Cow Fence

The Cow Fence, estimated to have been built in 1965, was an early structure designed to keep cows out of the area designated for projects at the time. Crafted from an array of vertical wooden posts, the gate combined functionality with a whimsical aesthetic. It's believed to have been near the current entrance to the canyon, slightly north of its current location. Intended to allow people to pass freely while serving as a barrier for livestock, little is known about the structure beyond a photograph found in George Hasslein’s scrapbook, which depicts him walking through the gate.
